Algarve is the beautiful southern coastline of Portugal. If you are looking for tips on things to do in the Algarve. Below are 9 amazing places to visit in the Algarve to admire the coastline.
Ponta da Piedade, Algarve Portugal
Ponta da Piedade is a promontory located west of the city of Lagos. Erosion has created a number of extraordinary features with sea caves, arches and peaks. The situation offers a beautiful view of the coastline in both directions which makes it a great place for sunset and sunrise! You can check various points of view from the top of a cliff or walk down the stairs 190 to see more bays with arches.
Benagil Cave is probably one of the most famous and best places in the Algarve. Benagil is circular in shape with a colorful dome and a hole at the top for the light to come in. Everything is in there for unforgettable moments!
Praia dos Tres Irmaos
Accessible via another beach, Tres Irmaos offers quite unique features with double arches. It’s fun to explore other coves until you reach them. But I suggest to see it at low tide, if not water will reach the cliffs making your exploration complicated.
Praia da Marinha
This long beach with towering cliffs certainly has a lot of things to offer with many bays to explore and a series of natural arches. The location can be admired from walking on a cliff, from the beach itself at low tide, or from a boat that allows you to see it in its entirety. It’s really amazing!
Praia da Falesia
6 kilometers of pure pleasure admire the work of Nature with a layer of color. And the best part is that you can see it completely from the point of view on the cape at the West end. Definitely on the best places to visit in the Algarve. Breathtaking, don’t you think?
Praia dos Tres Castelos
Located in the heart of the great coastal city, Tres Castelos is surprisingly monumental. There is one place where the sea pile is very close to the towering cliff and walking between the two is very impressive. You will feel very small.
Praia do Evaristo
Most of Evaristo’s beaches are famous for their restaurants. However, I think this is one of the best beaches in the Algarve to see at high tide (when most are better seen at low tide). It was covered with small rock formations so the waves came to hit them making a magical show. Plan to be here for a few hours – because you will find it hard to leave!
Praia da Albandeira
Praia da Albandeira is one of the lesser known beaches on the Algarve. This is a small bay with good rock formations in the middle and water fills most of it during high tide. But the best part, I think is to walk on the cliff to the west to see the hidden bay on the other side. From there you have a fantastic view of the giant arch that jumps in the water!
For those who like scenery and exploration, Algar Seco is the perfect place for you! You can walk down a large hole in a cliff and at the base erosion has created a blow hole. You can also explore tunnels under rock formations to see cliffs from different angles.
Some of the most enjoyable Algarve holidays come from tour or multi-destination trip. Each of the coastal towns has a very different atmosphere and appeal, and there is no long distance separating them.
The popular route combines a calmer r and more relaxed Eastern Algarve (Tavira or Vila Real de Santo António) with a buzz in the center of the Algarve (Vilamoura or Albufeira) then with the history and authenticity of the western Algarve (Lagos, Portimao or Sagres).
Whether for an active holiday or just to relax, rent a bike in Algarve is an eco-friendly and environmentally way to see some of the normally unseen sight of Alagarve. biking is also a deep way to get to know people, food, culture and history of Algarve, Portugal.
